SPL311-14850 Sold.
SPL311-24557. Purchased by me in July 2004 from a private party in So. Cal. Mostly complete car when purchased. Rusted chrome, complete interior. Engine was running when purchased. Head had been redone less that 100 miles previous. AUGUST 2004-
October 2004- Primered black, replaced signal and taillights, removed smog equipment. Installed velocity stacks (purchased from England.) Torqued head (was loose and caused overheating.) Replaced radiator hoses, disassembled and cleaned carbs. Repaired exhaust manifold leak. Replaced spark plug wires. Synchronized carbs. Cleaned fuel tank. Adjusted Valves.
Currently runs at about 160 degrees. 180' thermostat installed. Very quick off the line and plenty of low end power. Cruises the freeway at 75 mph @ 4000 rpms. Paint is next. Color undecided.
NEW MOLDINGS INSTALLED AND NEW SEATS 10-24-04
November 2004- Smog Head plugs. I believe these are 1/4" pipe plugs? or maybe 1/2? The same ones fit in the intake manifold holes. They were at the local hardware store. I kept looking for 14mm fine thread bolts but the pipe thread fits the same. The chrome caps have prongs that snap into the head holes perfectly. I put a gob of permatex gasket maker under the cap just for a good seal.
FEBRUARY 2005- Some new wheels. Appliance Mesh mags from a 240z.
MARCH 2005- Replaced the Head Gasket. Removed aftermarket header and reinstalled factory exhaust manifold and manifold gasket. New top and bottom radiator hoses. Re-curved distributor to pre-smog specifications. Timing set to 16* bdc. New valve cover gasket. New oil pan gasket and cleaned oil pump and pan. Replaced timing cover oil seal. New thermostat. Readjusted valves. Helicoiled rocker stud and water pump thread on block.
April 2005- Front Suspension Springs and grease boots. Nissan Competition springs (late). Monroe 20829 shocks. Urethane Grease boots. Click the pick for more suspension photos.
JUNE 2005- New front and rear bumpers. New Bridgestone Potenza RE71 tires. 195/55/14
AUGUST 2005- Wheel center caps
November 2005- Replaced pistons and rings with a used set. Ring lands in #1 cylinder had been damaged. Rings from DEVES. New head gasket.
January 2006- Moved Alternator to passenger side of engine. Changed to 4-blade fan. Click pic for more details. Engine is definitely quieter now.
April 2006- Paint.
